Who You Listen To
In each person, there is an inner fire which is always fueled by truth, passion, delight, and purpose.
This is the only thing you need to listen to.
The consensus which allows negativity to predominate, or entertainment, or wastes the minds of so many people, is simply not appealing to one who has that inner fire.
It requires that we do not listen to what is around us.
It requires that we listen only to the uplifting purpose that we can each serve.
It requires associations with those of uplifting and passionate commitment.
When your place yourself in this mode of thinking and acting, your life takes on a singular quality of happiness.
Your satisfaction exceeds anything else you have ever done.
Your focus on lifting up your attitude lets you rise to take the steps that are invisible to those who are lost in negativity.
When your course is set on giving, serving, uplifting and including everyone who can possibly benefit from your work, you attain a deep peace and happiness which permeates your life.
Viewing the contributions from people like this makes me feel wonderful.
I love reading about the way Dr. Yunas’ concept of “social business” transformed the lives of so many in Bangladesh and took them out of poverty.
I love the fact that Atlanta, GA, where the founder of Habitat for Humanity lived, has the lowest rate of homelessness.
I love the commitment of the Buddhist monk who built a school to take care of so many abandoned children and orphans in the foothills of the Himalayans.
I love the inspired action from within which has guided so many people to turn their lives around and to help so many others do so as well.

Universal Appreciation
What in my thought lets me reward or deprive others?
Every one is precious, beautiful, given unique gifts.
Each culture and society has different appreciations for different types of gifts.
Some are artistic, some are scholarly, some are economic.
The most balanced societies appreciate all the gifts and share them.
The most advanced individuals appreciate their own gifts and share them.
The most deprived individuals huddle in fear or rob others through various means, verbal, physical abuse, or privileged laws.
How can we comfort such deprivation?
What would we want to?
I would like everyone to live in happiness and prosperity.
Under the current system of values, that is not working.
With a cooperative set of values and practices, a philosophy of valuing each person and finding ways they can share their gifts would give everyone a measure of happiness and prosperity.
Social businesses benefit people in two ways, by the service or product they provide and by employing people to provide that service or product.
These two practices allow a more universal appreciation of people and their gifts while meeting their needs.

Only What is Useful
Keep only what is useful in your life.
The memories that bring you pain are no longer useful, once you recognize that you can turn from them and create a better life for yourself.
If you feel burdened by a lot of “stuff” you have collected, consider how useful it is to you, and then discard what is no longer useful, freely and generously.
Weeding out the habitual attitudes is harder, because they have become so unnoticeable, but many of these are also no longer useful.
When you notice a problem attitude, consider what you would like to replace it with, and then practice restating your new attitude.
Once the new attitude becomes habitual, move on to the next one.
You will find yourself going beyond the current limits in your life.
Your redirection can continually improve how you feel about your life.
It can provide new opportunities for you, and place you where your new uplifting attitude is highly valued.
New ideas will find a radiant new fit now that there is room for them.
New friends will find they are welcome in conversation.
New work and better working conditions may be part of your new manifestation.
As you discover what is truly useful for yourself and you release your burdens, many new and uplifting experiences will be available to you right where you are.

Constant Flow
Ideas are always flowing somewhere.
You can tap into the ones that are meant for you when you listen within.
These ideas are specific to your welfare.
When you act on them and bring them to life, you bless others as well.
Since the ideas are there to support you, they are your “currency”.
You can turn them into whatever you need as your desire to give helps them take form.
As you receive your ideas in order to give, all the resources you need to develop them will flow into your life.
The more consistently you listen, the more readily you will receive the ideas.
As you convert the ideas into the innovations which attract interest, you will receive the money you need.
Staying in the flow becomes natural once you discover your gifts.
Until you do, life can seem quite laborious.
Once you sense the flow of your wonderful idea, it becomes a pleasure to do the things that bring it into being.
Your happiness and natural productivity will create interest in what you are doing, and others will want to take part to experience the benefit of what you are doing.
This natural flow of support gives you an entirely different attitude toward your life and your participation in society and civilization.
It helps create the uplifting atmosphere we all want to live in.
It lays the foundation for a community of fulfilled people and fulfilling activity.

An Authentic Life
When you contribute your originality, you are sharing your authentic life.
Doing your job to help realize someone else’s goal is certainly fine, and it helps you practice intelligence and discipline.
But your real purpose is to discover your unique individuality and to express it.
It is essential to contribute from your personal sense of who you are.
The uniqueness of each person is what makes society complete.
Until we are each working from that uniqueness, there is always a lack of fulfillment.
It creates a sense of unrest.
Until we find our who we truly are and live our unique purpose, we are not living an authentic life.
The power of an authentic life is that is aligns us with every resource, creates satisfaction and fulfillment and meets true needs, both for us and for those we benefit.
The general or acute sense of discomfort we feel is a gift, telling us to listen within to find our purpose.
Then, as we willingly relinquish our involvement with so many outside activities, we can hear the inward voice.
It is a gentle breath, a sigh of fulfillment which we feel as we listen.
Our consistent practice directs us to take specific steps.
We connect with what we need.
We find ourselves involved in life in a very different way.
We are living an authentic life.
