How Your Life Developes

The world throws random experiences at you.

Some are in line with your heritage, some with your surroundings, some with your companionship.

Their common element is that they all come into your life.

What you do with each of them is entirely up to you.

You can appreciate them or fear them.

You can accept them or resent them.

You can justify them or disrespect them.

How you respond is the one factor which will shape them.

Your reaction alone will cause them to continue to interact in random ways.

But your considered thought about them and your choices in how to direct and redirect them will create an intentional life.

Amazing to think that despite the government you grew up with, the neighborhood, the education, the parenting, that all this is simply background.

You can redraw, reshape, give emphasis and texture to any portion that you like.

Your imagination and skill will create different scenarios.

Even the emotional factors can come under your control with the appropriate tools.

So, watch and listen.

Consider, and then create.

You Are the Change

As you experience various factors in your life, you notice what you enjoy and what you dislike.

You can create more of either.

By your emphasis in what you are thinking about, you create more of it.

Learning to let go of the things we fear is demanding, but it must be done in order not to emphasize a familiarity with them.

Learning to dream of the things which fulfill us is the most practical and direct way to bring them to us.

Consistency is the key.

In creating the change you desire, practice is demanded, just as in everything else.

Create the model that you love the best.

Refine it and love it and nurture it every time you think about it.

Then start to notice how it is showing up.

Love and appreciate those little signs, and keep taking the tiny steps which bring it and you closer and closer.

You can initiate any kind of change you want.

Be intentional about it, and it will show up.

Children and Growth

Each child who comes into your life represents an opportunity for growth.

We are all at various life stages with everyone we encounter.

The children who come into your household are there to develop their individualities, as you continue to develop yours.

From what I have seen, most parents give their children everything they are capable of giving.

We all take what we are given and build on it in our own individual ways.

We can emphasize positive or negative things.

As I discovered hidden negative influences from my childhood, I had to decide what kind of part they continue to play in my life and how to improve on them.

I have also had opportunities to appreciate the long-term effects of many positive factors.

As children grow up they have the opportunity to develop a life with meaning.

We can all use both positive and negative influences from within and without the households we grew up in.

We can appreciate or resent life’s requirements on us.

How we fulfill them is our continuing decision.

What My New Life is Bringing

Consideration of the world from my own point of view.

Looking at what my own point of view consists of.

Recognizing that which is from within.

The difference from what has been imposed.

What my own feelings actually are.

What is actually important to me.

What I, myself, want to do with my life.

The freedom to make these kinds of decisions.

The realization that I have value.

The recognition that I am validated just for being myself.

The deepest peace I have ever known.

Freedom to create and share.

Unlimited resources within and without.

The gift of help.

Deep fulfilling breaths.

Trust.

Gentle, purposeful expansion.

Fun conversation and community.

Profound Peace

 Profound peace brings profound comfort.

Without knowing any of the details, it is possible to feel the presence of an all-pervading peace.

The depth of relaxation, comfort and security is given.

I know something has moved; the old panic and terror are displaced and something new is being revealed.

In listening within, I realize I have processed so much unrest and trauma.

It has been recognized, and I am finding that I am big enough to contain all my experiences, even the bad ones.

I can still choose to live with good experiences, but I no longer have to resist the pain of the bad ones.

I survived;  I used the skills I had and they worked to get me this far.

Now, I can add some more skills to continue creating a better and better life for myself.

I can feel the profound peace, comfort and assurance enveloping me as I make my choices.

Outgrowing Your Children

Our children grow in many directions as they mature into adulthood.

They learn new skills, acquire new friends, and move into their generation of activities.

But what about your own growth?

What if it is taking you farther away from your children?

As you resolve issues from the past that you did not have time to address while you were raising them, you may find yourself moving in an entirely different direction, one that is completely new to you.

Your greater range of experiences may put you out of reach emotionally, because your children simply have no way to relate to them.

Moving into new territory like this requires courage.

Resolving your own life issues is not for sissies!

What you are establishing for yourself goes beyond the family “traditions” promoted by commercial holidays.

You are establishing a deep grounding which you have never had before.

While you were raising your children, you took care of them in the best possible ways you could at the time using all the resources you could possibly bring to bear.

Now, it is time for you to discover how to take care of yourself in the best possible ways you can.

Your work with your children is complete, even when you continue to get together.

You are no longer raising them.

Now you can complete the work to expand your own life.

It is time.

Taking Myself for Granted

I am grateful to discover who I am in new ways.

Everyone I know is grateful to discover who they are in new ways.

Everyone I don’t even know, all over the planet, is grateful to discover who they are in new ways.
—————-

My life keeps expanding.

There are so many things I have always wanted to do, and I am starting to do them.

When I discover new things, I add them into my life, too.

I love new things.

I love discovering new skills.

I love how the new things that I learn fit into and expand my life.

I am no longer trying to get by, hoping just to survive.

I no longer crouch with fear in my heart, waiting for the next violation, the next punishment.

I know that look of hopelessness and numbness, despair on my two-year-old face.

It was not enchanting; it had innocence and helplessness and the numbness of fear.

But now, after a lifetime of internalizing those feelings, I am letting them out.

I am acknowledging them.

They are part of my life, which I am still making up for.

I am an adult now, and I can deal with my fears.

I can let them out; I no longer have to be numb.

The pain is a kind of rejoicing.

So that is what I was feeling so long when I would not let myself feel.

That is what was hidden, blocking all my progress.

That is what I am healing step-by-step.

I can now ask for help.

I can now do my chores for myself, not for my parents.

I am now free to live beautifully and to make beautiful things in my own art, in my own expression.
