Through compassion and experience, my view of the world expands.
I am becoming part of a different culture every time I travel to a new place.
I see the same things happening everywhere but in slightly different terms.
Busses have routes, but they are organized differently than in my home town.
Food is always a distinct pleasure to learn about.
It is served according to a particular set of standards and rituals in different places.
Compassion and respect for the elderly is a common practice on busses, and older people are escorted gently in and out of places of business.
People work with a sense of purpose and pride even in simple occupations.
I am glad to be able to witness this.
I find myself waking up with a sense that I, too, can live with peace all around me.
In my profession, I enjoy teaching a new skill.
I see children and adults enter a new world of freedom through each step of progress.
My job is to make it possible for them to learn well.
That is how I see society.
My experience says that compassion can create well-being for everyone.
